ACE Mentor Program

EMCOR companies are increasingly discovering the rewards that accrue to those who participate in ACE (Architecture, Construction, Engineering). ACE is a nationwide program designed to get high school students excited about the opportunities and benefits available to them through the construction industry.

Dynalectric Company of San Francisco is in its third year of ACE involvement. This year, six of the firm's people are mentoring two ACE teams, one in San Francisco and one in San Jose. The teams, which can have up to 30 students each, meet every other week for about two hours. During the meetings, the groups visit jobsites and apprentice training facilities, tour company offices and work on "real-life" projects of the sort industry professionals engage in everyday.

In addition to providing mentors, the company contributes to the local chapter's scholarship fund and provides financial support for the end-of-year scholarship awards luncheon. This summer, the company also opened up two internships for promising ACE students.

Ron Zuccaro, Dynalectric's president and CEO, understands why companies like his need to be involved in ACE. "The future of our industry depends on inspiring young, talented students to pursue careers in construction," says Zuccaro. "ACE provides the perfect platform to introduce students to all facets of our industry. It makes students aware of viable career opportunities and supports their continued education and training in pursuit of their career goals."
